1. Requests for Comments on Reports Related to Children Receiving Early Intervention Services Under Part C of the IDEA

On November 25, 2009 the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) published the following requests for comments in the Federal Register. Interested persons are invited to submit comments on or before December 28, 2009.

2. New Question and Answer Document on Serving Children with Disabilities Eligible for Transportation

Regulations for Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) were published in the Federal Register on August 14, 2006, and became effective on October 13, 2006. Additional regulations were published on December 1, 2008 and became effective on December 31, 2008. Since publication of the regulations, the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) has received requests for clarification of some of these regulations. A new question and answer document from OSERS on issues related to serving children with disabilities eligible for transportation has recently been published online at http://idea.ed.gov/explore/view/p/%2Croot%2Cdynamic%2CQaCorner%2C12%2C

3. Technical Assistance Planning Workshops for Potential Race to the Top Applicants

The U.S. Department of Education recently announced that it will be hosting two Technical Assistance Planning Workshops for potential Race to the Top applicants to review technical and logistical aspects of the competition. The first workshop will be in Denver, Colorado on December 3, 2009. The second workshop will be in Baltimore-Washington area on December 10, 2009.
