2-4.1 - Knows some letters
- Intent - The child is able to identify the names of at least 3 letters
- Environmental Suggestions
- Provide variety of ways for children to experiment: sponge stamp, and cookie cutter letters in art are; block letters in block area; magnet letters in manipulative area; textured letters in sensory or exploratory area
- Include materials that accommodate for a range of motor skills (e.g., lightweight or letter with knobs for grasping.
- Children with motor or physical impairment - Child may require augmentative communication system
- Child who is visually impaired or blind - Child may need tactile or Braille letters, or high contrast print.
- Child who is visually impaired or blind - Child may be familiar with letters that are three dimensional (e.g., plastic or wooden letters.)
