2002 K-8 Reading/Language Arts Adoption Criteria

All students must have equal opportunities to master these standards and equal opportunities to perform well on the assessments. California is moving toward a system where instructional materials are designed to ensure that:

1) virtually every student participates in the regular classroom and has access to the basic curriculum; and

2) teachers are provided with the support they need to ensure that all students succeed.
