Assessment That “Drives” Instruction
What we thought: Norm-referenced tests & informal
observation provide adequate guidance for instructional
planning and progress monitoring.
What we now know: Norm-referenced tests are valuable
indicators, but curriculum-based measurement provides more
precise guidance for instructional decision making and
progress monitoring (Shinn, 1998).
The better we use assessment data - the better we teach…
What gets measured - gets done!
