1. National Standards of Care Toolkit for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN)
The NASHP posted the National Standards of Care Toolkit for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) to their site last fall (2017) to assist health care professionals, insurers, caregivers and other stakeholders to improve their understanding of the national standards and best practices for supporting CYSHCN. The resource links to an introductory video and multiple assessment tools, webinars, and publications, including the National Standards for Systems of Care for CYSHCN Fact Sheet that provides an overview of the standards and examples of how state policymakers have used them to improve systems of care for CYSHCN.
2. State Child Care Subsidy Systems: Building the Supply of High-Quality Child Care for Families with Infants and Toddlers (Blog)
According to this recent blog entry from BUILD Initiative (July 2018), subsidized child care reduces parent stress, allows them to keep stable employment, and increases positive interactions with their children that is essential for healthy child development. The blog also provides step-by-step strategies to help states make effective use of the new Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) funding to improve access to quality child care for infants and toddlers.
3. Capacity Building Self-Assessment Tool
In April 2018, the OCC published this Capacity Building Self-Assessment Tool to assist leaders and organizations in the early learning and child care field to lead sustained improvements and achieve goals and objectives over time. The tool includes a benchmark chart divided into 5 main dimensions and 23 subdimensions for self-assessment. The 5 dimensions an organization must assess prior to capacity building include its:
