1. Executive Function Mapping Project Measures Compendium
OPRE released a new resource (May 2018) designed to assist researchers and early child assessment and evaluation practitioners to identify the range of measures available to assess executive function (EF) and other regulation-related skills in young children. Summary tables listing all the measures by age, skills, and tasks are provided.
2. Child and Family Development Research
This OPRE report (April 2018) describes major research and evaluation projects undertaken by its Division of Child and Family Development in 2017. The range of projects include early childhood research, child care, Head Start and Early Head Start, child welfare, cultural diversity, and human trafficking.
3. Ryan's Story (Video)
The Desired Results Access Project Video Library recently posted a new video, "Ryan's Story". In this clip, an early childhood special educator describes how an inclusive classroom and the use of embedded instruction contributed to positive outcomes for Ryan. The video can be found under the General Interest tab at: http://www.draccess.org/videolibrary/.
Note: All Desired Results videos can be viewed online and downloaded at no cost for use in educational and professional development activities.
4. NIEER Pre-K Data Snapshot
NIEER just released this snapshot (June 2018) based on data from the State of Preschool 2017 yearbook to highlight examples of state policies supporting comprehensive preschool services. The most common comprehensive services provided in 2016-2017 included parent involvement activities, followed by home visits or parent conferences.
5. Legacy 2030 Project
This month CEELO launched its new Legacy 2030 Project (June 2018) that aims to collect the wisdom and policy expertise of state early education specialists and influential leaders in the field. Focus groups and a national survey will be facilitated this summer. Contact info@ceelo.org, if you are interested in participating, and sharing your voice and experiences in early education.
