1. Grant Notice: Personnel Development to Improve Services for Children with Disabilities
A recent notice in the Federal Register (June 13, 2018) invites applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2018 for Personnel Development to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities - Interdisciplinary Preparation in Special Education, Early Intervention, and Related Services for Personnel Serving Children with Disabilities who have High-Intensity Needs, Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number 84.325K. The application deadline is July 30, 2018.
2. Early Childhood Standards Development Task Force
The DEC is seeking volunteers to serve on the Standards Development Task Force. Members of the task force will develop professional practice based early childhood specialty education standards to be used by higher education faculty and professional development providers, states and licensing agencies, and other professional associations to develop curriculum, licensure frameworks, and cross-disciplinary standards, respectively. Applications to join the task force are due June 26, 2018. Visit the announcement page for further details.
3. Milestones in Action - Now Available in Spanish
The Learn the Signs, Act Early program from the CDC has launched a Spanish version of The Milestones in Action library. This resource was created to help parents, early care and education providers, and healthcare professionals to identify developmental milestones in very young children and areas of concern. No permissions are needed to use the photos and images in this library for educational or awareness-building purposes.
4. Supporting a Diverse Early Childhood Workforce for Dual Language Learners (Policy Update)
The National Association of State Boards of Education recently issued this policy update (May 2018) that addresses how policy makers and other stakeholders in early childhood education can support dual language learners by promoting a diverse workforce. Statistics, recommendations and state examples are provided.
5. Baby Talk: Resources to Support the People Who Work with Infants and Toddlers
FPG has published its June 2018 issue of Baby Talk for caregivers of infants and toddlers. A compilation of recent articles on topics such as social-emotional development, best feeding practices, and imaginary play are included. Visit the archive for past issues of Baby Talk.
