Come and learn about the development of a universal online early intervention curriculum of evidence-based practices that can be used as a training tool or family resource for anyone in the nation. The curriculum is being developed collaboratively by a sub group of the Early Intervention Early Childhood Professional Development Community of Practice (EI-EC PD CoP). We will introduce the first module and discuss next steps and ideas for its use.

Tapping Teacher Evaluation: Using Child-Level Data to Improve Teaching for All

In a recent review of state teacher evaluation systems, CEELO found that states are challenged in measuring early teacher (including early intervention) practice and student learning. Challenges include insufficient understanding of early childhood best practice by evaluators and differing requirements for teachers across settings/roles, among others. This session will consider the approaches several states have taken, the challenges and opportunities in linking child and workforce data, and its potential to drive good teaching into every classroom.

This session will highlight the criteria of a high quality personnel system and the resources and supports available from the Early Childhood Personnel Center (ECPC) and the Early Childhood TA Center (ECTA Center) on implementing early childhood comprehensive systems for personnel development for those serving children with disabilities (age birth to five) and their families. Strategies and examples from Pennsylvania will illustrate how one state has built a high quality personnel development system.
