Data security and access has evoked many concerns about who has access to data and how it will be used. This session will focus on the role of Data Governance in protecting data and facilitating improved results. State successes and challenges will be explored: authority, accountability, quality, integrity, security and access. The DaSy Framework governance component will inform this discussion around ensuring quality data systems and participating successfully in larger state data efforts.

Data quality is a key concern for all data managers. Data managers need strategies that will develop, promote and sustain data quality. Three data managers will discuss their unique challenges and the techniques they have employed to advance quality data in their state. This session will provide an overview of a variety of targeted technical assistance practices and reporting processes that build data capacity at the LEA and SEA level.

Panelists from two states will discuss key decisions in sharing and linking data across early childhood programs, the policy considerations related to those decisions, and lessons learned from their efforts.

There will be time for discussion and questions from participants.

An overview of new resources recently developed by these TA Centers will be provided. A discussion will be facilitated about the types of data privacy issues states are grappling with and the kind of resources that could be useful. This is an opportunity to help shape future data privacy resources these centers develop!
