The Office of Special Education & Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) at the U.S. Department of Education has posted Information Collection Packet 1820-0578, Part C State Performance Plan (SPP) and Annual Performance Report (APR), online at http://www2.ed.gov/policy/speced/guid/idea/capr/index.html. This packet contains both SPP and APR instructions, tables and supporting attachments to be used for February 2009 submission.

3. The Bright Futures Training Intervention Project: Implementing Systems to Support Preventive and Developmental Services in Practice

The Bright Futures initiative provides recommendations to help pediatricians and other early childhood providers improve the quality of preventive and developmental care for young children. An article in the July 2008 issue of Pediatrics describes a pilot project supported by the Commonwealth Fund, which is helping to implement Bright Futures in a wide variety of practices. 4. Web Conference - Collaborations to Promote Early Childhood Education and Childcare

On September 9, 2008, at 1 pm EST, Chapin Hall and the National Governors Association will host a web conference entitled Collaborations to Promote Early Childhood Education and Childcare, which will focus on innovative practices and policies to improve access to quality early childhood education and childcare. Speakers will discuss the efforts of state Early Childhood Advisory Councils to coordinate services for young children, obstacles providers encounter in offering a seamless delivery of services, and the importance of having sound data to monitor program effectiveness.
