2. Final Schedule for all IDEA Public Meetings Now Available Online

3. OSEP Part B Verification Visit Letters Now Available Online

As part of the implementation of OSEP's four-part accountability strategy (Systems Verification, High Risk, Continuous Improvement and Focused Monitoring and Intervention), OSEP began conducting visits to States and entities in 2003 to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of States' general supervision, assessment and data collection systems (Systems Verification). OSEP is issuing letters to each of the States visited to inform them of the review results. In each State, OSEP reviewed both the Part B and Part C systems. OSEP's Part B verification visit letters are now available online at http://www2.ed.gov/fund/data/report/idea/partbvvltr/index.html. Additional responses will be included on the Web as they are issued.

4. NGA Task Force on School Readiness Releases Final Report

The National Governors Association (NGA) today released Building the Foundation for Bright Futures: Final Report of the NGA Task Force on School Readiness, to assist governors and other state policymakers in implementing intervention policies and strategies that will support early childhood programs in their states. As a companion piece to the task force's final report, the NGA Center for Best Practices also released Building the Foundation for Bright Futures: A Governor's Guide to School Readiness today. The governor's guide ties the state policy recommendations of the task force to concrete examples of state initiatives, examples and best practices to promote school readiness.
